Care beyond care: setting up for cancer care

Compassionate care is the single most important term in cancer medicine. It is the outward manifestation of caring with the science through the heart and is a response to a recognition and understanding on the bond.The first phase of compassionate care is understanding the disease and the health status of the patient through TLC. The second phase is providing caring support of the cancer patient by responding to the pet's needs and the client's concerns through the commandments of cancer care. Lastly, is providing direct therapy for the underlying disease using the appropriate tools at hand such as surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Each step of the process of compassionate care is interdependent on the others.
