Regular recheck appointments, whether with the technician or the veterinarian, allows us to monitor the status of our patients with chronic illnesses. Many veterinarians recommend biannual geriatric exams for healthy patients; those with chronic diseases may be seen on a quarterly or monthly basis (Campbell 335). The frequency of these rechecks is entirely dependent on the disease, the condition of the patient, and the comfort level of the owner.
