Flexible Polymer Thick Film circuits are a reality. Appliance Design Engineers have the opportunity to effect cost-reduced functionality for their electronic controls by combining input, indication, and interface on one substrate. Although some Designers may be hesitant to employ PTF technology based on performance issues and limitations; materials development and process improvements continue to provide further performance enhancements, as well as functionality. The next generation of PTF circuit sub-assemblies will include printed components such as resistors, diodes, capacitors, and light-emitting materials. Today, electronic engineers can develop more ergonomically pleasing packages by taking advantage of the multi-planar capability and functionality of PTF circuit sub-assemblies, and they can do this cost-effectively, reliably and without adversely affecting the environment.
