Local administration of growth factors bears great potential for fracture healing. Especially, insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) seems to play a promising role in the formation of new bone~1. Therefore, we developed a controlled delivery system for IGF-I and characterized its properties to induce new bone formation.
