Macaw Reintroduction to Prevent Extinction: Fiction or Reality?

Discovery of an extraordinary nesting site gave relevant information about macaw breeding habits. Species involved were Ara ararauna, Ara macao, Ara chloroptera, Ara manilata, and Ara severa. Feces, integument, and blood smears were collected and screened for parasites. Research, veterinary management, macaw fledging projects, and re-introduction methods in their habitats will be discussed.
