Old and new animal models of sleep disorders: bulldogs and beyond

As is the case for many fields of medicine, the field of clinical sleep medicine has benefited from the study of clinical animal patients with similar disorders, in addition to experimental studies that have led to fundamental discoveries about the nature of sleep. In this talk, the author will review contributions from the model she has worked with most extensively, and also provide a brief update on recent progress in the field with other models. A more general review of clinical sleep disorders in dogs is to be found in the first reference.
