Raman spectroscopy of cyclo(L-Ser-L-Ser) in aqueous solution

The solution Raman spectra of cyclo(L-Ser-L-Ser), in H_2O and D_2O, have been investigated and compared with those of cyclo(L-Ala-L-Ala). These two molecules differ in the ring substituent, R, as shown in Figure 1. Cyclo(L-Ala-L-Ala) has been reported to have a boat (C_2) molecular structure in the solid state [1], but there has, to our knowledge, been no report of the structure of cyclo(L-Ser-L-Ser).
