A good amount of work has been done on benzonitrile and mono substituted benzonitriles. But not much work has been reported on distributed on benzonitrile. Hence an attempt is made in the present work to study the FTR and FTIR spectra of two fluoro substituted benzonitrile namely 2-chloro, 4-fluoro and 3-chloro, 4-fluoro benzonitriles. Further while going through the literature, it has observed that the analysis of vibrational spectra of the above molecules have not been so far reported. As a part of the ongoing research program in the laboratory on the vibrational analysis, a complete study of the spectra and analysis have been reported here for the first time.
