OPERATING EXPERIENCE FOR THE NORTHUMBERLAND BUILDING PV FACADE FIVE-YEAR STATUS REPORT

In order to promote confidence in building integrated photovoltaics, it is important to have examples of systems which have operated successfully for several years. The Northumberland Building PV facade has now completed over five years of operation, with a very high reliability. This paper provides data on the system output, efficiency and operating temperature during that period and also discusses the maintenance activities undertaken. The average efficiency of the system over the five-year operating period is 8.1% and there is no evidence of efficiency reduction with time. The performance monitoring is continuing with the aim of being able to assess the performance levels over the expected system lifetime.
