Salmonella is considered one of the most important foodbome pathogens that has potential implications for human health. In Denmark, Salmonella monitoring is being used in swine farms as a predictor for Salmonella infection and to implement control measures directed to minimize cross-contamination at the slaughter plant (1). In the US, Baum (2) has conducted preliminary studies on serologic monitoring for Salmonella but other work has been limited to the use of culture (3). The objective of this abstract is to present results on Salmonella serologic monitoring in multi-site systems, and to evaluate two different sampling protocols.
