PRODUCTION OF DISEASE FREE PIGS FROM AN INFECTED BREEDING HERD USING EARLY WEANING A CASE REPORT

摘要

The management methods discussed in the past few years, which involve early weaning of piglets and subsequent segregated breeding, aim at interrupting the infection chain from the sows to the piglets and between production stages. The improvement of the health status of the animals is designed to minimise the therapeutical use of drugs and enhance animal performance. Within the scope of a pilot project a sow herd showing a high morbidity and mortality rate as a result of infections of the respiratory tract, was repopulated with early weaned isolated piglets.
