摘要

Classical swine fever virus (CSFV; formerly named hog cholera virus) is a member of the Pestivirus genus of the Flaviviridae family. CSFV is the causative agent of classical swine fever (CSF), a viral disease of world-wide economic importance. Other pesiviruses, namely bovine viral diarrhea virus 1 (BVDV1), bovine viral diarrhea virus 2 (BVDV2) and border disease virus of sheep (BDV) also can infect pigs, and due to their close relationship can lead to diagnostic cross-reactions. The discrimination between pestivirus infections in pigs is particularly important since CSFV is subject to statutory control involving slaughter of infected pig herds and restrictions on movements of pigs and pig products from affected regions. These measures do not applyto other pestivirus infections of pigs.
