How big is a tip vortex?

In a series of short experiments in the open-jet wind tunnel, aimed at revealing fluid dynamic properties of the wake of a rotor model, attention has been paid to the size of the vortex core of the free tip vortex. Other topics addressed in the past are: bound vorticity on the blade, wake expansion, tip vortex strength and transport velocity of the tip vortex (see relerences).
