摘要

Using a quadratic loss function when the actual loss function is nonquadratic might be choosing the incorrect input parameter levels. In certain situation, linear loss function is more appropriate in industrial application. In this paper, two asymmetrical linear loss functions are assumed to find out the optimal setting of the process mean for unbalanced tolerance design. The results show that the process mean should be shifted a little from the target value such that the expected quality loss is minimized.
