Determination of Critical Paths in Hammock Type Processes

The virtual factory (VF) was introduced in 1994 as a system of software models and applications that operates a distributed network of physical factories. It supports highly specialized, concurrent and distributed problem-solving and decision-making about resource allocation and process management, facility and process optimization from interrelated models, involving both human personnel and computers. VF was designed as a common shared framework for models of distributed systems with objects and processes as primitives. An important aspect of a software system creation providing the mentioned framework is considered in this publication. The problem of determination of critical paths for hammock type processes is investigated and effective solutions for implementation in the existing specialized software toolset, PROCESS BUILDER, are proposed.
