Brownfdeld redevelopment - strategies and instruments for successful urban revitalization

With a growing scarcity of land in industrialized countries, the recycling of abandoned industrial sites is of growing importance. Because of the complex nature of redevelopment projects, communities as well as investors hesitated in the past to takeon this challenge. The following article describes some of the hindrances in brownfield redevelopment and how to overcome them, addressed from the view of a developing office. Among others, careful communication between the many actors and clear agreements concerning remediation standards are key elements of successful revitalization projects.
