Treatment of dredged sediments by a counter current flotation sedimentation technique

The finest fraction of PAH contaminated dredged sediment from Overschie (Rotterdam) is remediated by dissolved air flotation. The flotation experiments are carried out in a new developed reactor in which accumulation of small particles is prevented.In a 2 step experiment 60 percent of the PAHs can be removed and the remaining tailings contain 67 percent of the total mass.
