摘要

The determinations of steep stress profiles in the near surface regions are confined to X-ray diffraction techniques. Various methods of stress gradient determination are known using layer removal techniques or measurements at the original surface. The evaluation procedures are very susceptive to the accuracy of the measurements, especially when gradients are steep. Different methods should be compared and assessed. This was the reason to initiate I task to study very steep gradients and to elaborate respective recommendations. The ] pants came from several universities, from research institutes and from industry. Recommendations are given for the procedures of measurement and evaluation to determine steep stress gradients from measurements at the original surface.
