Disclosed are: a method for evaluation of stress, which can evaluate the state of stress with high precision by utilizing a blood amino acid level, particularly a blood amino acid level associated with the state of stress; a stress evaluation apparatus; a stress evaluation method; a stress evaluation system; a stress evaluation program; and a recording medium. The method for evaluation of stress comprises the steps of: obtaining an amino acid level data that relates to a value of an amino acid level from a blood collected from a subject to be evaluated; and evaluating the state of stress including at least depression or major depression in the subject, based on a value of a blood level of at least one amino acid selected from Lys, His, ABA, Asn, Phe, Leu, Ile, Val, Trp, Tyr and Met included in the amino acid level data.
