Three factors, which include volatile matter (Vd), total inert content (TI) and compositive caking index (CCI), are considered at Baosteel methods. CCI is an integrated index influenced by Chinese caking index, Maximum Gieseler fluidity and vitrinite caking index. A statistic analysis of the data, in which CCI, Vd and TI were used as independent variables, while DI_(15)~(150), CRI and CSR were as dependent variables, has been achieved. Control and prediction methods of coke quality were obtained. The results traced from production of industrial coke oven in half a year show that CCI has advantages over the former proportion of strongly caking coal in order to ensure stability of coke quality and reduce cost through increasing the proportion of weakly caking coal.
