Comparison of Pulpability between Reed and Amur Silver Grass

The pulpabilities of reed and arriur silver grass were compared. The results show that in sulfate and alkaline sodium sulfite pulping, reed is more difficult to cook than amur silver grass and gives higher pulp Kappa number and lower pulp yield. This results from the differences of lignin structure between reed and amur silver grass. Anthraquinone could speed up delignification significantly in alkaline sodium sulfite pulping for reed.
