摘要

On the basis of evaluating and analyzing the current applied image compression techniques in China such as the discrete cosine transformation, fractal compression and wavelet transformation etc, to counter their shortcomings, this paper puts forward a new algorithm, i.e. it is the number theory transformation taking the number theory as its theoretical foundation. It needs not to store the fundamental functions and its algorithm can be realized by using shift operation without rounding errors. Therefore it can be forecasted that the number theory transformation will have a bigger compression ratio and a higher decompression precision and increase the velocity of the decompression and the compression. This algorithm is well worth developing and researching in the image compression technique.
