Anthropometric Data of the Elderly for the Needs of Design

摘要

This paper presents the demographic prognoses for Europe (up to the year 2050) and Poland (up to the year 2020). Gradual increase in the number of elderly people, indicated in the paper, confirms the fact that the satisfaction of elderly persons' needs will be an important social task of the 21st century. The investigation conducted was aimed at providing the somatic characteristic of elderly users, lacking so far in Polish ergonomic publications. The results of the measurements of 33 anthropometric features of 106 women aged 60 and above constitute a set of data necessary for designing for this age group and they determine the lower limit of the anthropometric standard for the needs of transgenerational design.
