摘要

Steel is used to be ion carburized with mixing gas of methane and hydrogen. In carburizing, carbon in the methane decomposes and deposits on the steel by plasma, so methane gas flow may influence on ion carburizing of the steel. An apparatus in which works can transfer preheating, ion-carburizing and diffusion treating zones continuously was made for effective carburizing of steel. The gases were flown into above three zones with three different gas inlets. The hardness and microstructure of the works were investigated after ion carburizing and quenching. The steel is carburized deeper near the carburizing gas flow nozzle of the inlet than far from the nozzle. Hard surface laver formed by quenching of ion-carburized steel.
