摘要

This paper introduces a new RT technology that uses ice prototype as master pattern to converse ceramic molds, then to cast metal parts or dies. The new approach is put forward first in the world, and is being studied by the CLRF (Center for Laser Rapid Forming) in Tsinghua University of China, supported by NSFC. Some metal parts have been cast by this technology primarily. We have been applying for a patent in China and USA for this RT technology. The paper presents the background, research status of the new RT technology, and theoretically demonstrates the feasibility of forming ice prototype by RP, also introduces the essential steps of the new RT.
