In the past twenty years, Li-ion batteries with high energy and power densities have become the essential part of our daily life because of its wide applications in portable electronic devices. Nowadays, Li-ion batteries are considered as the main power source of electric vehicles, which have attracted a lot of concerns because environmental condition attracted more and more attention of people. The wide applications of Li-ion batteries promote researchers to find new electrode materials that can satisfy both high energy density and long term cycles for various electronic devices. So far, carbon materials with graphitized structure, such as artificial graphite and natural graphite, are main commercial anode materials of Li-ion batteries. These anode materials can offer a mass specific capacity of ca. 320-360 mAh g~(-1) and low lithium storage potential but still suffer the decrease of capacity in charge/discharge processes.
