FABRICATION OF SILICON CARBIDE DERIVED CARBON MADE FROM RICE HUSK AND ITS ELECTROCHEMICAL PERFORMANCES FOR CAPACITOR ELECTRODES.
Carbide derived carbons (CDCs), which are generally obtained by chlorination of carbides, have achieved high capacitances in electrode materials of electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs) owing to their high specific surface areas and narrow pore sizes of less than 1 nm [1-2]. Making CDCs from natural sources is important because of reducing production cost and supplying raw materials sustainably [3]. In this study, the authors produced a novel silicon carbide derived carbon made from rice husk, which is one of the natural sources, and evaluated its physical and electrochemical properties.
