Surface active agents (SAA) are widespread in environment because of industrial and household use. Some of SAA are common components of commercial pesticide formulations and may be added to spray mixtures to enhance pesticide control efficacy. Effects of SAA on photolysis of herbicides were well studied. Vinclozolin (3-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-5-methyl-5-vinyl-oxazolidine-2,4-dione), is a protectant dicarboximidic fungicide marked by BASF AG. It is effective for controlling fungal diseases caused by Botrytis spp., Sclerotinia spp., and Monilinia spp. in grapes, fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, hops, rapeseed, and turfgrass. The photolysis of vinclozolin alone in organic solvents and water were studied previously. In our studies, six surfactants were selected to observe the SAA effects on photolytic rates of vinclozolin under high-pressure mercury lamp (HPML).
