Physiological and biochemical characteristics of Iranian strains of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri. the causal agent of bacterial canker disease

Citrus bacterial canker (CBC), caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xac), is a destructive disease that seriously affects most commercially important citrus varieties. The Asiatic form of CBC (pathotype A) is pathogenic to almost all varieties of citrus and some species in Rutacae family. It causes severe symptoms on grapefruit (C. paradisi Macf.), lemons and Mexican lime. Symptoms appear as erumpent, callus-like lesions with water soaked, oily, tan-colored margins.
