Resistance heating is a common technology to generate heat. Electric current passing through the element encounters resistance, resulting in heating of the element. While most of these heaters are made using extruded wire, there are applications where screen printed thick film elements can be used to meet unique performance requirements that can be found in appliances, automotive, semiconductor and printing applications. Screen printing, also known as silk screening, is a common additive manufacturing method where material is pushed through a patterned screen, or stencil. Hybrid integrated circuits are most commonly manufactured using screen printing to deposit thick film pastes with different physical properties to create a variety of multi-layer circuits with unique electrical properties.
