Application of a model based size-recovery methodology

The direct determination of an operating plant size-recovery relationship is difficult at best and virtually impossible at times. Claude Bazin presented a novel method for determining the size-recovery relationship in a flotation plant using a single experimental survey with size and assay analyses. The method is elegant in its simplicity and is a good tool in analyzing operating plant performance. This paper discusses the application of Bazin's method in analyzing the size effects on both grade and recovery in a rougher flotation. The application was found to be more than just academic as the predictions were validated by an experimental laboratory study. Size-recovery determination for a gold leach circuit is also presented.
