Real-time data showing the voltage stability and capacity retention of Li/CSC D cells that were stored up to six years prior to discharge is presented. Following storage, cells were discharged at temperatures between -20°C and 70°C and under loads which spanned three orders of magnitude. The effect of storage time on the voltage delay characteristics of the system was also determined. Li/CSC D cells exhibited a low self-discharge rate of about 1.0-3.5% per year.
