PEPWood-A Wood/Polyolephin Sheet Product

In addition to offering traditional and commodity building products such as oriented strandboard (OSB), plywood, particleboard, and lumber, Louisiana-Pacific Corporation also has interest in supplying specialty building products. In keeping with this goal, L-P Polymers recently commercialized PEPWood, a wood-polypropylene composite extruded into sheet form. This paper describes the product and process by which PEPWood is made. It presents some mechanical property data as well as some applied information. Finally, the initial commercial application of PEPWood as an automotive interior trim substrate is discussed.
