A user configurable integrated recording and analysis module

The commercial pressures to reduce the development time of ever more complex products can often overload an organisations test facility. Unfortunately, efforts to avoid the resulting delay may be frustrated by the increasing shortage and cost ofexperienced instrumentation and IT specialists. One solution is to employ technology that significantly improves the productivity of existing test personnel.The subject of this paper is the Integrated Recording and Analysis Module (IRAAM) that has been adopted as a productivity tool' by a number of automotive companies. Technical details of this user configurable design are described, together withapplications that include remote data access via the European wide cellular telephone network. The work concludes by discussing the relevance of the IRAAM approach to future low cost satellite telemetry applications.
