This study aims to examine thoroughly and to measure some aspects of an innovative system of aboveground public transportation characterized by vehicles which can be electrically supplied upon stopping. This time is sufficient to automaticallysupply and store on board enough energy to get to the next stop where they can again be supplied.The study considers four types of vehicles, each with a capacity of 10, 20, 30, and 40 passengers, and a "Dense grid" transportation network characterized by a short and regular stop spacing not greater than 400 m. Moreover the paper analyzes the quantity of energy needed by vehicles to move and the values, at the variation of the system parameters, of the main components of the vehicle, especially those of the Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS).
