An evaluation of potential low-cost filler materials for evacuated insulation panels

Currently available powder-filled evacuated insulation panels offer premium performance at a premium price. A large fraction of the cost can be attributed to the filler material. Several low-cost powders, including fly ash and clay, were examined to evaluate their thermal performance characteristics as fillers for evacuated panels.
