Implementing ISO 14001 in a QS-9000 (ISO 9002) Certified Surface Finishing Facility: Kuntz Electroplating Inc.'s Experience

There are several considerations associated withISO 14001 & QS-9000 implementation Kuntz Electroplating Inc.(KEI) realized that both standards have correspondingconsiderations and succeeded in integrating the twomanagement systems by adopting existing elements of thequality management system (QMS) during the implementationof the environmental management system (EMS). The followingis a small sample of elements that are linked in KEI's generalmanagement system: Documentation requirements; continualimprovement; operational (process) control; and checking andcorrective action. This presentation will focus on KEI'simplementation experience, including elements that are linkedwith the current QMS as well as new experiences such asdeveloping an environmental policy, environmentalmanagement programs and maintaining currency of legal & other requirements.
