Soft timers: efficient microsecond software timer support for netwrok porocessing

摘要

This paper proposes and evlauates soft timers,a new operating system facility that allows the efficient scheduling of software events at a granularity down ot tens of microseconds.Soft timers cna be used to avoid interrupts and reduce context swiches associated with network processing without sacrificing low communication delays.
