The addition of fumaric acid to diets promotes an improvement in the digestibility of the protein and a better absorption of amino acids and also an improvement in the behaviour of the animals. In piglets, the anatomical integrity of gut morphologyis necessary so that digestive processes can occur, hi the post-weaning period, morphological changes occur in intestinal mucous including villi atrophy and crypt hyperplasia. These alterations happen mainly due to an increase of the intestinal sensibility of the mucous to the present antigens in the diets offered to the animals in the period post-weaning, especially to those present in the soybean meal. The objective of this work was to study the jejunal and ileal mucous behaviour on animals fed with acidified diets with fumaric acid. Thirty weaned piglets with an average weigth of 7.7 kg were fed with 2 post-weaning diets: T1 (0.0 percent Fumaric Acid -FA) and T2 (2.0 percent FA), to study the faclorial arrangement of treatments 2 X 5 (2 acid levelsand 5 slaughtering ages) according to the randomized block design.
