摘要

Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) often causes mild respiratory disease, but acute to peracute infections are occasionally seen. This acute form of APP causes large losses in affected herds due to an increased mortality and decreased productivityof diseased pigs. In such herds, strategic in-feed medication of pigs expected to be infected may be an alternative to parenteral treatments of diseased pigs. The present study aimed to simulate a situation with acute APP infections present on herd basis. Within this model, the efficacy of strategic in-feed treatments prior to exposure to the microbe was evaluated using different pharmaceuticals.
