Mycotic infection as a cause of abortion is rare in swine. This report describes a case in which Aspergillus fumigatus caused abortion in two sows of the same herd. There has been few reports about Aspergillus fumigatus or Aspergillus spp. as a causeof porcine abortion. Eleven aborted foetuses of a sow (sow A) were submitted for laboratory examination from a farrowing unit of nearly 100 sows. Several other abortions had also occurred during the previous months of the same autumn. According to the anamnestic information, the sows were vaccinated against parvoviras infection as vaccine manufacturers recommend.
