The Rolls-Royce Advance3 Project - Proving our Future Core

At the heart of Rolls-Royce future large civil engines will lie a highly efficient gas generator leveraging new technology sub-system designs and component parts to enable fuel burn improvement and capability beyond that delivered today by the hugely successful Trent engine series. The Advance3 demonstrator project brings that future core to test, proving the underlying design concepts and technology integration approaches prior to first application. This paper will describe the journey of the Advance3 Demonstrator engine from concept through to assembly & test, focussing on how a lean programme management approach was applied to deliver this fast-paced new engine proving project.
