摘要

In this study, the effectiveness of ultrasonic nanocrystalline surface modification (UNSM) on fatigue characteristics of S45C, AISI304 and DIN17221 steels was investigated. It is obvious from the obtained results that the UNSM technique clearly increased the fatigue strength and lifetime at high and low cycle fatigue regime. The UNSM technique was also applied to the torsion bar made of DIN17221 in order to improve the durability and torsion fatigue strength. It was found that the torsion fatigue strength of the UNSM-treated specimens was increased remarkably at high cycle fatigue (HCF) range (>10~5 cycles) by 10~20 times in comparison with the untreated specimens.
