Multi-component biosorption of lead, copper and zinc ions of R. arrhizus

The biosorption of three divalent metal ions-namely lead(II), copper(II) and zinc(II)- on R. arrhizus has been studied for three single-component, three binary and one ternary Systems. The ability of the fungal biomass to bind three metal simultaneously is shown as a function of the number of metals competing for binding sites, metal combination and levels of metal concentration. The mono and multi-component sorption phenomena have been expressed by the non competitive and competitive Freundlich adsorption models developed for optimum adsorption conditions.
