A rapid pile load, called Statnamic test, was conducted on a cast-in-situ concrete pile constructed in a soft rock of diatomaceous mudstone on Noto Peninsula of Japan to calibrate the design formula of the foundation piles for Nets Bridge No.4.Sincethe loading duration of the Statnamic test was about 100 ms, the load-displacement relation directly obtained from the Statnamic test exhibited dynamic effects. Therefore, one-dimensional stress-wave propagation analysis and FEM analysis of the Statnamictest were conducted to derive load-settlement relations under static loading. The results from the beth analytical methods were similar, supporting the applicability of the one-dimensional stress-wave propagation analysis to interpret the Statnamic test. An approximate method for interpreting the Statnamic test signals is further proposed based on the results of the analyses.
