Consideration of the relative effect of soil ionisation and mutual interaction of components on the partial lightning current distribution in earth electrode systems
Understanding partial lightning current distribution is important for evaluating electromagnetic disturbances. The lightning transient performance of a typical site-wide earth electrode that forms part of a lightning protection system (LPS) is examined by extending previously developed models. Nonlinear effects of breakdown in the soil surrounding the earth electrode are included as is the mutual interaction between components.
