Diffusion layers produced on low-carbon steel surface in vacuum chromising process have been studied. The effect of the process parameters such as time and temperature on layer growth kinetics on steel surface has been investigated. A mathematical model for vacuum chromising process has been described. The model has been used to predict the chromium diffusion profiles of chromised layers produced on the low-carbon steel surface. Comparison with experimental data showed a very good agreement. Anomogram to predict layer thickness and their surface chromium concentration as function of process time and temperature has been elaborated.
