Green-function-based thermal-wave fields were compared in the case of 2-and 3-dimensional geometries, with the intention of resulving the boundary value problems through the effects of the assumed boundary conditions for a given geometry. It was found that in a number of conventional photothermal configurations it is important to identify the proper boundary conditions in order to correctly formulate the problem and perform accurate thermophysical measurements.
