One of the uncertainty contributions related to the calibration of any device as per document EAL-R2 is due to the influence of some components on the instrument during the calibration. The inclusion of some of these components into the overall associated uncertainty can give rise to an overestimation, as a consequence of the same contribution being repeatedly added in different steps within the traceability chain. The problem becomes more serious when this overestimation results in the overall uncertainty being of the same order of magnitude as the instrument specifications.
