The evermore competitive market foster the development of machine tool industry towards more sophisticated levels of automation and rationalization. Considering the historical development of manufacturing we may observe that Intelligent Manufacturing Systems are being gradualy introduced into industry. In our paper an overview of our recent research in applications of Machine Learning to several cases of machining processes and technologies such as Grinding, Electrical Discharge and Laser Machining is presented. The particular tasks of Machine Learning were: performance, roughness and quality prediction on the process level and tool selection on the technology level. Tha data used for machine learning were obtained either through direct measurement of some process variables during the machine process (process data), or from empirical recommendations obtained through expert's observations (technological data).
